“The Covenant of Love”

“The Covenant of Love”

When you stop chasing me,
your silence becomes louder than your voice.

You think of me in the moment
when your heart says no to its own passion.
I dream of you whenever you appear in my imagination.

Will you let go of your passion
when I become an unavoidable presence?
Will you call my name, even when your heart no longer wants to hear it?

I will come near you,
just to make sure you see my smile one last time.
I will feel your skin,
even if it no longer invites the warmth of mine.

Letting you go was never what I wanted.
Separating from you was never a voluntary decision.

Yet I am still here,
longing to return to your home.
I am still near,
ready to recommit myself
to your unending grace.

Will you let me?

I will make you one promise:

this time,
I will restore what was broken,
renew the covenant we did not honor,
and dry every single tear.
